Nine Involved in Friday Night CS Crash, No Serious Injuries

Nine people in two vehicles escaped serious injuries from a Friday night crash in College Station.

Police report traffic at Texas and Southwest Parkway was diverted between 8:30 and 9:30 p.m.

Officers were told a SUV was traveling southbound on Texas and attempted to turn eastbound onto Southwest Parkway in front of a car that was northbound on Texas.

Investigators determined both northbound and southbound traffic on Texas had a green light. But the SUV did not have a protected green left-arrow to proceed eastbound onto Southwest Parkway. This resulted in both vehicles colliding in the intersection.

The SUV was occupied by the driver and four passengers. All sustained non-incapacitating injuries. The driver and three of the passengers were transported to the College Station Medical Center by CSFD for treatment.

The driver of the SUV was ticketed for failing to the yield the right of way. No other charges expected to be filed, and alcohol was not believed to have been a factor in the crash.

Police released no names.
