Northgate Businesses Getting Additional Delivery Parking

There will be more delivery parking in the Northgate district following action by the College Station city council.

But merchants and those who make the deliveries say it’s still not enough.

Members of the Northgate Merchants Association supported the plan developed by the planning and development department.

Stephanie Steele of O’Bannon’s, who is also on the Northgate Merchants board, says delivery parking is still needed along University and College Main.

Josh Haynes at Jack Hillyard Distributing says adding an employee to stand by beer delivery trucks parked in fire lanes will cost more than $30,000 dollars a year, which may result in customers being assessed a delivery fee.

The council approved adding three delivery locations, two which will be loading zones during the day and free customer parking at night.
