A Houston area man will spend the rest of his life in prison after pleading guilty to murdering his older brother in a field near Kurten last year.

28 year old Kyle Wischnewsky of Shepherd entered the plea agreement with Brazos County prosecutors.

District Attorney Jarvis Parsons says family members were divided on whether to pursue the death penalty.

Parsons says the mother asked to spare her only surviving son from the death penalty. In addition to the murder of the oldest son, the middle son died of cancer.

In March of last year, investigators say Kyle was driving his brother Cliff to the Bryan area to buy two all-terrain vehicles when Cliff was shot twice in the head.
