Saturday Night Fire Calls in College Station

College Station firefighters are investigating what started a fire Saturday night in a duplex near the Northgate district. One person who is not a fireman was treated at the scene for undisclosed injuries. Firemen were on the scene for more than two hours at 105-B Louise, which is just off Wellborn and north of University. The fire started in the kitchen and spread to the living room where it was stopped before going to the neighboring unit. After the fire was under control, College Station Police stopped a motorist who tried to go through a blocked intersection. An 18 year old who blew a breath sample that was two and a half times the legal limit was arrested for drunk driving.

That was one of two fire calls Saturday night. Earlier in the evening, multiple units responded the report of smoke inside the Lincoln Recreation Center. There was no fire. The problem was traced to a bad light fixture.
