I made a cartoon (http://i47.tinypic.com/xmqumt.jpg) that sheds some light on Representative Flores’ omissive comments about the origin of the sequestration mechanism (around the 2:20 mark in the WTAW audio clip). The sequestration mechanism was part of the Budget Control Act of 2011. It may have been the president’s idea, but that didn’t stop Representative Flores for voting FOR it! I might add that this is the same legislation that raised the debt ceiling and created the doomed and unconstitutional “super-committee” gang of six, among other bad things.

“The debt ceiling deal in 2011 was agreed to by Republicans and Democrats, and regardless of who came up with the sequester, they all voted for it,” U.S. Rep. Justin Amash (R-Michigan) said recently. “So, you can’t vote for something and, with a straight face, go blame the other guy for its existence in law.” I agree with you Brad, whether this is the presidents plan or not is of no real importance. Most of the Republicans, and certainly Mr. Flores voted for it. I think its time for Republicans to do, not what is good for the party or what is good for their political careers, but what is good for the country and actually cut spending.
