A former manager of a College Station retailer is accused of stealing nearly $10,000 dollars.

31 year old James Cole III of Longview is out of jail after posting bond following his arrest for taking the money from Brown’s Shoe Fit over a nine month period between April 2012 and January 2013.

The store owner told police he caught the discrepancy when he submitted his annual reports for auditing.

According to the arrest report, Cole told the owner and police he altered store records to pocket nearly $6,000 dollars but he denied keeping deposits totaling another $4,000 thousand.
