Details Finalized of Firemen’s Public Memorial ServiceFeatured Stories, News Monday, February 18th, 2013
Officials with the City of Bryan have announced details of the memorial service for Fire Department Lieutenants Greg Pickard and Eric Wallace.
Members of the general public planning to attend the service at Central Baptist Church starting at 10:00 a.m. will park at Veterans Park. Shuttle busses will run between 8:00 and 9:45 a.m. to the church and will return to the parking area after the service has concluded.
Boonville Road/FM 158 will be closed from Pendleton Drive to Elmo Weedon Road from 5:00 a.m. until after the memorial service is completed. The intersection of FM 60/University Drive and Boonville Road will be closed during the same time frame.
There will be a walking processional to the church composed of fire, police, and public safety personnel from the U.S. and Canada along with federal, state, and local dignitaries. The procession will start at 8:00 a.m. from the intersection of Boonville Road and University Drive. Fire apparatus will initially stage from the parking lot of the Bryan Target shopping center then at 7:00 a.m. will move to the procession area along Boonville Road.
Governor Rick Perry has ordered all national and state flags on state agency and political subdivision buildings in Bryan and the surrounding area lowered to half-staff until sunset Friday to honor the lives and service of Lt. Pickard and Lt. Wallace. Businesses may also lower their flags.
