Bryan ISD Negotiating With One Engineering Firm For Future Projects
Featured Stories, News Friday, February 8th, 2013Bryan school administrators are negotiating with a Houston architectural firm for a variety of projects.
Superintendent Tommy Wallis says first on the agenda is studying the condition of 31 district buildings.
Chief Financial Officer Amy Drozd added they were also interested in new construction and repairs of all sizes.
Board member David Stasny wanted to give local architects the ability to compete for future business.
Wallis says the board won’t be locked in with the same firm once the assessment is completed.
Stasny voted no because he didn’t want to shut out local companies from competing on future projects following the study.
School board members were told local firms were among the 16 who applied. A committee of district employees chose five out of town firms for interviews then recommended two finalists who met with the superintendent.
