College Station High School was quieter than usual Wednesday, the day after a student and classmate collapsed and died.
CSISD officials announced an autopsy was inconclusive as to the cause of death of 15 year old sophomore Jacob Simmons.
Superintendent Eddie Coulson, meeting with reporters after school Wednesday, says Simmons, a lifelong student in CSISD, will be sorely missed.
Coulson says there are no plans yet for a public memorial service.
Counselors were available during the school day, but Coulson says only a handful of students made visits. He credited notification to parents shortly after the incident and letting moms and dads share with their children.
Dr. Coulson says counselors will remain available for students and staff.
Coulson says Simmons was in gym class on the sideline after playing dodge ball when he collapsed. Three school district employees used an Automated External Defibrillator and administered CPR until an ambulance arrived.
Contributions to a family memorial fund can be made at any Bryan/College Station location of First Victoria Bank.
