Hitachi Consulting Opening B/CS LocationFeatured Stories, News Thursday, February 7th, 2013
Bryan/College Station was selected out of 250 U.S. cities wanting to become the next customer service center for an international company.
Hitachi Consulting is coming here to provide worldwide customers with information technology support and softwware maintenance.
Senior Vice President Jim Cole says one factor in favor of B/CS was the stability of the local workforce.
Cole also says an Aggie working in their Houston office, Kendall Berry, became more involved in the selection process as the original list was reduced to 30, then to 11, then to three finalists. Tulsa and Ft. Collins, Colorado also made the last cut.
Cole says this division is Hitachi’s fastest growing. This is the 12th center in the United States and will open at about the same time as a new facility in Lisbon, Portugal. Centers are also located in China and England.
Cole says they met their first six employees the night before last, senior staff were at this week’s A&M job fair, and 25 will be on the job March 4th.
Cole says an agreement for office space was finalized Thursday which will accomodate 50 employees. The consulting division employs 5,000 worldwide.
