Dallas Cowboys Coaching Changes

The Dallas Cowboys have reassigned receivers coach Jimmy Robinson to clear the way for former Tennessee coach Derek Dooley. The Cowboys made the hiring of Dooley official Monday and said Robinson would be a senior coaching consultant. Robinson also was the assistant head coach. Dooley was fired at Tennessee in November after going 15-21 in three seasons. He was just 4-19 in the Southeastern Conference and 0-15 against Top 25 teams. Cowboys coach Jason Garrett and Dooley were assistants together with the Miami Dolphins in 2005-06.

The Cowboys have also promoted Wes Phillips to tight ends coach and hired Frank Pollack as assistant offensive line coach.

Phillips, the son of former Cowboys coach Wade Phillips, has been on the Dallas staff since his father was hired in 2007. He was the offensive line assistant the past two seasons.

Phillips replaces John Garrett, the brother of Dallas coach Jason Garrett. John Garrett is now the receivers coach in Tampa Bay.

Pollack will be reunited with Dallas offensive coordinator and line coach Bill Callahan. Pollack played for Callahan at Northern Arizona before a nine-year NFL career.

Pollack spent last season as offensive line coach for Oakland after five years as the assistant offensive line coach for the Houston Texans. He also coached at
his alma mater.
