A&M Outsourcing Update from the Chancellor

Chancellor John Sharp, addressing the Faculty Senate this week, introduced the system employee in charge of outsourcing by having him share the number to his personal cell phone.
Sharp says the company that received the outsourcing contract that is saving $260 million dollars in College Station is in line to work at 11 other campuses to generate an additional $92 million in savings for the system.

As someone who works for IT in the TAMU System, I can honestly say that it costing $10,000 to run a computer line is way off…WAY OFF. We are grossly underpaid compared to what private industry pays, but most of us stay for the benefits. How about discussing the millions of dollars that Sharp is spending to do these audits? And the fact that he is hiring on these contractors to work in high level TAMU positions? Sharp is making money under the table and people are loosing their jobs, but nobody seems to care about that.
