CS Police Investigating Crash of Flying Pickup

An Iola man is hospitalized in College Station following a crash during Wednesday’s rainfall.

Police Assistant Patricia Logan says the driver of a two-ton pickup left Fitch has he was approaching Highway 30.

The truck went through the southside ditch, through a stockpile of road materials, and drove off the east side 20-25 feet above ground level.

The pickup continued airborne for approximately 100-125 feet until crashing into a muddy area east of the stockpile with the front end hitting first.

49 year old Donald Hill, who was wearing his seatbelt, was taken to The Med with serious injuries. There were no passengers.

Logan says the cause of accident is unknown.

Patricia Logan visits with WTAW’s Bill Oliver.
