Joeckel Goes, Matthews Stays / A&M Football Goes Top 5 x 2

Texas A&M’s fourth 11-win season in program history was rewarded with a No. 5 finish in the Associated Press Top 25, the Aggies’ highest final ranking in the poll since 1956. A&M was also ranked No. 5 in the final USA Today head coaches poll. With a successful program comes some poaching. A&M has already lost to Assistant Coaches to becoming head coaches and now Luke Joeckel is headed to the NFL.

This all happened on the same day both Joeckel and Johnny Football were named to the USA Today all Bowl Team. Luke Joeckel, a junior left offensive tackle and consensus All-American is projected to be a first round pick and could go as high as one of the top five picks.

Cedric Ogbuehi who will more than likely replace Joeckel tweeted that Jake Matthews (also thinking about going to NFL)  is staying. The speculation is he’s staying to play with his freshman brother (Mike) who could replace Sr. center Patrick Lewis’s after he graduates.
