Cold Weather Reminders from Atmos Energy

For the third time since Thanksgiving, temperatures are headed below freezing.

Natural gas prices for more than 15,000 Atmos Energy customers in the twin cities are expected to remain low. Atmos spokesman Chace Murphy encourages customers to conserve consumption by installing programmable thermostats and inspecting doors and windows for drafts.

Safety reminders includes protecting yourself from carbon monoxide poisioning. Murphy says one tip is to make sure the natural gas flame is a brilliant blue. Warning signs include health problems such as flu-like symptoms and sleepiness. Murphy says if that starts, call 911 and turn off the furnace until it has been inspected.
