Kyle Kacal Backs Straus and Resolution of Water Issues
Featured Stories, News Wednesday, December 19th, 2012With the speaker of the house race coming up, new District 12 Representative Kyle Kacal says he backs Texas House Speaker Joe Straus.
Kacal says that after holding several town hall meetings, he feels Straus best represents the wishes of his district, adding that he has confidence in Straus and that Straus has Texas’ best interests at heart with a very conservative last session.
He says only 15 percent are against the current speaker, and Straus will run opposite David Simpson of Longview next month.
Also as part of his first session, Kacal says it’s important to jump right in to assist even the small communities with struggles that are important to them, especially concerning water.
He says the dispute over water rights is a critical issue, particularly in Kosse, Waco, and Marlin, and starting January ninth, he plans to work hard to make sure that everyone has water.
He says there’s no question that water’s a commodity, but it’s also a necessity, and everyone has a right to water that they can afford.
Kacal says these first few months are an opportune time to concentrate on water problems while questions concerning education, another major issue, are tied up in the courts.
