Bryan City Council Allows Neighborhood Business on Two Tie VotesFeatured Stories, News Wednesday, December 12th, 2012
A Bryan woman’s desire to operate a beauty shop out of her home was unanimously supported by the Planning and Zoning Commission.
But one neighbor appealed the recommendation to the City Council. And due to a pair of tie votes, the council Tuesday night upheld the P&Z decision.
Speakers included the applicant, Cassandra Jones.
Aaron Kerrs was one of two opponents who spoke at the council meeting.
The three voting to reverse the P&Z recommendation were newly elected councilman Greg Owens, Richard Cortez, and Mayor Jason Bienski.
Supporting the P&Z vote were Paul Madison, Chuck Konderla, and Ann Horton.
The first tie vote was to uphold the P&Z recommendation and the second was to reject it.
