College Station’s Northgate district launches the holidays in a unique way Thursday evening.
Director Chris Scotti says it’s the first time for a full-blown program, including 18 lighted trees and unique decorations.
Thursday night’s ceremony, which starts at 6:30 p.m. on the promenade, will also include Christmas carols led by members of St. Mary’s Catholic Church.
There is no charge for street-level parking.
The trees will remain lit through New Years Day.

Join the Northgate District Association for its annual Northgate Wonderland lighting ceremony, refreshments and Christmas carols this Thursday at 6:30 pm on the promenade behind the Dixie Chicken.
This family friendly event features 18 creatively decorated trees each adopted by organizations throughout Northgate.
Each organization is also bringing a wrapped Christmas Angel gift that will be donated through St. Mary’s Church.
Join them for a fun evening with free surface parking, refreshments and Christmas carols led by St. Mary’s Catholic Church.
2012 participants include: Maroon Bikes, College Station Parking Operations, Wells Fargo Bank, College Station Police Department, Schotzi’s, La Bodega, Café Eccell, Daisy Dukes, O’Bannon’s Taphouse, St. Mary’s Church, Dixie Chicken/Dry Bean, Social Lounge, The Tradition at Northgate, Fitzwilly’s/Duddley’s Draw, B/CS Convention & Visitors Bureau, Hookah Station, & Paddock Lane/Tipsy Turtle.
