CS Fire Department Reviewing Stolen Ambulance IncidentFeatured Stories, News Thursday, November 29th, 2012
The College Station Fire Department is still evaluating damage to an ambulance after it was stolen Monday afternoon.
Spokesman Bart Humphreys says it’s the first time it’s happened here and something that occurs nationwide once or twice a year.
Humphreys says the theft did not compromise care given by EMT’s at the scene of a traffic accident.
Humphreys says the engine has to be kept running to operate equipment. And the simple idea of locking the vehicle is impractical because among other things, the time it takes to unlock the ambulance.
A back-up ambulance is in service until repairs are made.
