Iola Pre-Teen Dies in ATV Crash

The Iola community is the mourning the loss of a seventh grader who died while riding a ATV.

12 year old James Kay was found by his older brother near the family farm Thursday afternoon.

Grimes County Sheriff’s Captain Blake Jarvis told sister station Navasota News Kay was riding alone.

Iola school superintendent Doug Devine says counselors from surrounding districts were on hand Friday to assist.

A memorial fund has been established at the First National Bank in Anderson, and game towels in the youngster’s memory will be sold during Saturday night’s playoff game in Groesbeck.

James was the water boy on the Bulldogs varsity football team, which is making its first playoff appearance in six seasons.
