Organizers of the first Brazos Valley Fair say the inaugural event was a success.
General Manager Tom Quarles says paid attendance was 16,165 and there was a net profit of $20,919 dollars.
Quarles says two financial goals of the fair have already been met. One is awarding college scholarships. And the fair board authorized capital improvements at the expo.
More than 1,500 hundred people shared in $33,000 dollars in prize money and the fair received $58,000 as its cut from the midway provider.
Quarles says another important number was the more than 350 volunteers, something he wants to see increased.
