A Brazos County District Court jury has convicted the last of five men arrested for the death of a Bryan teenager and injuring a second on Mothers Day in 2010.
22 year old Jose Castillo faces five years to life on each count of engaging in organized criminal activity.
The verdict, reached early Thursday afternoon in about 90 minutes, allowed the jury to start hearing testimony in the punishment phase.
The early morning of May 9th, 2010, police discovered the body of 17 year old Christopher Hutchson in the backyard of a home in the 300 block of West 17th. Before Hutchson was shot, investigators were told Hutchson and a second young man were beat up by gang members.
Four others previously entered plea agreements. Johnathan Orta was convicted of Hutchson’s murder. Pleading guilty to engaging in organized criminal activity were Joey Reyes, Jacob Hernandez, and Manuel Guzman.
