Girl Scout Father Arrested for Burglary at Camp HowdyFeatured Stories, News Wednesday, October 10th, 2012
A College Station man was turned in by family members for a recent burglary at Camp Howdy Girl Scout Camp west of Bryan.
46 year old Robert Kruse, Jr. was arrested for going into the camp’s maintenance building and taking lumber, power tools, and camping equipment.
Brazos County Sheriff Chris Kirk says the theft took place three weeks ago while Kruse and a younger daughter were at the camp on a service project.
Investigators were contacted by an older daughter who reported there were items in a storage unit she shares with her father that didn’t belong to her and according to the arrest report “were too expensive to be my dad’s”. Detectives found at the storage unit and the Kruse home property belonging to the camp.
According to the arrest report, Kruse is accused of taking a skill saw, plastic buckets, a Stihl Chainsaw, 4 orange extensioh cords, 1 cast iron dutch oven, 1 lawn rake, 6 bottles of propane, 2 packages of bolts, 8 ladder hooks, 1 bag of charcoal, 1 Coleman camp stove, 1 cast iron griddle, 1 bag of concrete, 1 box fan, 2 fire extinguishers, 1 Chicago brand reciprocating saw. 1 cordless drill, 21 2x6x10 boards, 1 4x4x7 board, 2 4x4X8 treated board, 1 4x4xB cedar board, and 1 4x4x10 treated board.
Kruse is out of jail after posting bond.
