Spree of Weekend Burglaries in BryanFeatured Stories, News Monday, September 24th, 2012
A total of five vehicles were burglarized in Bryan over the weekend, with four of the burglaries believed to have been related.
Officer Jon Agnew says there are simple ways to lessen thieves’ opportunities and motivation to steal.
He says that having your items on display is like advertising to potential thieves walking by, so be sure to hide anything valuable.
Agnew adds that citizens should always lock the doors of their vehicles, because many burglars have been pulling on handles, trying to get into vehicles to snoop around.
The five burglaries took place near the Z Islander apartments on Wellborn, Lucky Street, Pecan Street, Turkey Creek Road and Rock Hollow Loop.
Meanwhile, a combined loss valued at ten grand in theft and damages was reported at a building in north Bryan over the weekend.
Agnew says that during the week, the victim noticed that the storage shed near the residence had been broken into, with several power tools stolen and several other power tools damaged by the removal of their cords.
Agnew says that after officers responded and processed the crime scene, some persons of interest were identified in the area.
He says possible charges are pending as investigation continues, and several items were recovered which will be returned to the victim.
