Mayor Nancy Berry Gives An UpdateFeatured Stories, News Wednesday, September 19th, 2012
Even though several positions on College Station’s upcoming city council elections are unopposed, Mayor Nancy Berry says the candidates’ names will still be on the ballot.
She says the City Secretary’s office did a lot of research in order to decide how to act, but such an uncontested election appears to be unprecedented in the city of College Station.
Berry says that come election time in November, they will still be duly elected, so you may choose to vote or not vote for the unopposed candidates as you please.
Also, the numbers for College Station’s July sales tax are in, and Mayor Nancy Berry says they’re significantly positive at 5.5 percent more than during July last year.
Berry says that’s a very good percentage.
She says the city was conservative in its estimate because the year before, the number was down.
