CSISD Enrollment is Up This Fall

Things are looking up in the College Station school district this fall- specifically, the number of students.

Superintendent Eddie Coulson says CSISD gained four hundred students between September of last year and September of this year, distributed fairly evenly between the high, middle, and elementary schools.

He says most growth has been at the elementary school level, with the greatest percentage of growth at the middle school level.

Coulson says that with the additions of multiple school campuses, the district grew by about 3.8 percent as a whole between last year and this year, and that growth formed a large part of the discussion at this week’s workshop and school board meeting.

He says they will spend more time over the course of the next several months talking with the board about what they need to do to make sure that they’re prepared for any further growth and to meet the needs of current and future students.

The board will also be attending a region-wide meeting of school boards Thursday, Coulson says, discussing the future of public education and the boards’ role as technology and state requirements evolve.
