Two interesting crimes took place in College Station Tuesday evening.
Public Information Officer Rhonda Seaton says several citizens came to the aid of a woman whose purse was snatched near the Kroger shopping center around nine.
Those citizens caught and detained a suspect until officers arrived, and although it helped in this case, she doesn’t recommend for citizens to attempt to restrain suspects because of possible injury.
Seaton says the police always appreciate vigilant citizens, but the best thing to do is to report suspicious activity and stay at a safe distance until officers arrive.
She says that in the force of the purse-snatching, the victim received a non-incapacitating injury, and the suspect, 25-year-old Linord Muckelroy, Jr., of Hearne, was arrested and charged with robbery.
Later Tuesday evening, an event which was originally reported as a major accident near Dominik and George Bush Drive turned out to be the result of a domestic dispute.
Seaton says it appears that after a man and women had an argument in a residence on Dominik, the man left on foot and began walking down George Bush.
She says it was at that time that the woman drove up in a vehicle, trying to get the man to get into it.
When he refused, she pulled into a private driveway, hitting his right leg in the process.
Seaton says the woman then fled the scene and the man was taken to the College Station Medical Center for non-incapacitating injuries.
She says the case is being investigated further by CSPD’s detective division.
