Featured Stories, News Saturday, September 15th, 2012Information courtesy of the College Station Police Department:
The College Station and Texas A&M University Police Departments, and the Texas A&M Engineering Extension Service (TEEX) Disaster City training complex are providing support for a military training exercise Sept. 15. The training exercise, scheduled for completion by midnight, includes the use of military helicopters and training munitions.
The training site, flight patterns and times were carefully selected and fully coordinated with local authorities and TEEX to minimize the impact on the surrounding community.
Safety precautions have been taken to prevent risk to the general public and the military personnel involved. As such, this training is not open to the public. Military and civilian uniformed personnel are on-site for the training to provide additional public safety measures.
This is routine training conducted by military personnel designed to ensure the military’s ability to operate in urban environments, prepare forces for upcoming overseas deployments, and meet mandatory training certification requirements.
We recognize this training has an impact on the local community and we appreciate your gracious support during this critical training event. We are inspired by the patriotism and history of military support Bryan/College Station has shown and continues to display as we train to be more effective in our mission.
