We lost a giant last week with Ann’s passing. Her contributions to our industry and our organization have been immeasurable. The outpouring of condolences from hundreds of industry and political leaders throughout the state and country reflects the impact she had throughout her career in journalism, politics and broadcasting.
Ann was known for looking to the future. As such she knew that despite her dogged determination to survive her illness and her relentlessly optimistic view of her outlook, she must ensure the TAB was well-positioned for continued success once she could fight no longer.
As Chairman of the TAB Board of Directors, I am pleased to announce that the Board today unanimously and enthusiastically promoted Oscar Rodriguez to the office of President of the TAB.
All of us on the Board and among the membership who have worked with Oscar over the past 18 years have witnessed his work ethic, passion and dedication to our industry. He has been instrumental in every major legislative initiative in Austin and Washington that TAB has undertaken, helping make TAB a powerhouse organization respected in both capitals.
Under his leadership, our member services have greatly expanded, the Annual Convention & Trade Show has become one of the top industry events in the country, our financial position has much improved and we have recruited a top-notch team of professionals working on our behalf at TAB.
All of us on the TAB Board have seen in Oscar what Ann saw: our future leader. I hope you’ll join me in congratulating him and renewing a commitment to help continue TAB’s tradition of success.
