Opponents to Proposed Private Landfill Organize

One month ago, state officials collected public opinion about a proposed private landfill to replace a sand pit west of College Station off of FM 60.

Opponents say the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) did not give enough advance notice about their appearance.

A neighboring property owner, John Bounds, has sent a letter to Austin requesting someone from TCEQ to appear at a meeting planned for Tuesday evening.

Bounds says the public is also invited to attend Tuesday’s meeting, starting at 7 p.m. at the Precinct 4 volunteer fire station.

John Bounds visits with WTAW’s Bill Oliver.
