No Public Speakers At CS Council Budget Public Hearing

Next year’s proposed budget for the city of College Station included plenty of discussion at Thursday night’s public hearing…but only among members of the city council.

After three days of workshops, Mayor Nancy Berry grew impatient with the time Jess Fields was taking to set up his motions to reduce city spending by a little more than $110,000 dollars.

Comments from Nancy Berry & Jess Fields.

Fields failed to get support to eliminate a $25,000 water fitness program, remove $46,000 to Keep Brazos Beautiful, and $40,000 from the Arts Council…the latter being questioned by Katy-Marie Lyles.

Comments from Katy-Marie Lyles & Jess Fields.

Fields was told an ad-hoc committee is thinking about phasing out a $100,000 dollar subsidy for maintenance and operations over a four year period.

September 13th is when the council is scheduled to take final action on next year’s budget.
