A&M Football Student Tickets Sold Out

COLLEGE STATION-Texas A&M, the Home of the 12th Man, offers the largest percentage of student seats in a collegiate stadium with more than 30,000 tickets allocated to students each football season. At this time, the full-season football options for the 2012 season are sold out. A limited number of Maroon three-game packages which includes Florida, South Carolina State, and Missouri, remain on sale to students. The White three-game package of Arkansas, LSU, and Sam Houston State, has also sold out.

“I’ve been in both locker rooms here at Kyle Field, and I can tell you the 12th Man, our Aggie students who stand throughout our games, makes a tremendous difference,” Aggie head football coach Kevin Sumlin said.

In 2011, 30,156 sports options were issued to students. A total of 30,284 football options have been reserved for students for 2012, including 500 each of the Maroon & White three-game packages.

“With our new membership into the SEC, interest in Texas A&M football is at an all-time high,” Jeff Schmahl, Sr. Associate Athletics Director for External Operations, said. “For the first time in history, season tickets sold out last spring and now student sports passes have sold out in record time as well. We anticipated this situation last spring and worked with student leaders and University administrators to set aside even┬ámore seats for students this season and to encourage early purchases of sports passes.”

In order to ensure that all Texas A&M students with sports passes have a seat at the games, guest tickets will not be sold until the Friday before each game and the number sold will be based on availability. Even though the ticket options have been suspended, there are usually a small percentage of students who will not draw tickets for a game for a variety of reasons. If tickets are not pulled by the end of business on Thursday, the remaining tickets will go on sale at 8 a.m. on Friday. That includes students without sports options who will also be able to purchase a half-price ticket on Fridays, if available.

The official capacity of Kyle Field is 82,589 and the Aggies set a record for season attendance in 2011 averaging 87,183 fans per game. The majority of games seats are sold on the track surrounding the playing field.

Texas A&M sports passes have been on sale since April when spring registration began. Incoming freshmen were given an opportunity to purchase sports options at new student conferences throughout the summer.
