New Traffic Advisories Starting Monday
Featured Stories, News Friday, August 10th, 2012The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) reports the new week means new traffic issues.
One begins Monday morning at 8 along Highway 47 between FM 60 and FM 1179/Villa Maria. A traffic switch will close the outside lane for both northbound and southbound traffic and close the northbound entrance ramp from the east frontage road. TxDOT says these closures are expected to be in place for the next few months allowing the contractor to construct concrete pavement for the outside lanes of the Highway 47 frontage roads at the proposed intersection with the Health Science Center Parkway. The project is scheduled to be completed in the summer of 2013.
And Monday morning at 8:30 begins the next phase on University in the Northgate district. This involves milling the inside lanes of University Drive between Tauber and Wellborn Road. Traffic will be merged into the outside lane for both directions. The westbound lanes will be milled first followed by the eastbound lanes. By Monday at noon, paving operations will begin on the westbound lanes and finish up with the eastbound lanes. This is scheduled to be completed by Monday at 8 pm. Then Tuesday morning starting at 8:30, milling will begin again for the outside lanes of both westbound and eastbound University Drive with paving operations to follow. When paving is completed Tuesday evening, there will be three lanes of traffic open for both east and westbound traffic.
