i have worked here in BCS for 29 years with a newspaper, sometimes going door to door. i wonder if these same people call in on the people who knock several times a week trying to mow their grass or some other handyman work. just the other day a man stopped by trying to sell us siding. for the most part, someone knocking on your door is just trying to make a living. only instead of a cushy government job, which a majority of people in this town have, whether for the city, school or university, these people go door to door. besides risking getting robbed ourselves, dog bites, and people who are just downright hateful and rude just because you knocked on their door, we also have to deal with people, who, OMG, call the cops someone knocked on the door! if you are not interested in the product or service offered, or you feel uneasy in any way, just say NO and close the door. remember when the scouts went door to door? if i have any money, i will buy from a scout, boy or girl, that comes to my door. but i am not going to buy from them sitting on their butts in front of wal-mart. anybody can do that, even a government worker. as for the permits, they are revenue generating device for the city. really. go try and get one. pay the fee and poof, you got one. heck the biggest crooks are the ones selling the permits. look how they waste our taxpayer money.

Pathetic citizens! Doug Cartwright is an honest kid from Utah. You should be thankful he is working in your neighborhood. Technically with a license by the DPS, which Doug has, it should be enough to be allowed to solicit. Why not ask the city why they woul double tax the business an their citizens for having an alarm? I met with the Sherrif of Shallow Water TX who did not require solicitors to pay for permits in his city because it is, "illegal". Little government, trying to play big government. I hope Doug is doing well and the persons who called the cops on such a hard worker apologize to Doug.
