Alleged Sex Assault Victim Reduced to Tears on StandNews Thursday, July 19th, 2012
SAN ANTONIO (AP) _ A woman who the Air Force alleges was the victim of a basic training instructor’s sexual misconduct broke into tears six minutes into an intense cross-examination by an instructor’s attorney.
The incident happened as the military trial of Staff Sgt. Luis Walker continued Wednesday at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio.
One of Walker’s attorneys, Maj. Naomi Dennis, pressed the woman about inconsistencies in her statements to male Air Force investigators. According to the San Antonio Express-News, the woman identified only as Victim 7 in court conceded that she gave a “watered-down version” of her sexual encounter with Walker.
Walker is accused of sexually assaulting 10 basic trainees. If convicted, he could be sentenced to life imprisonment.
