Friday the 13th included a power outage in College Station.

College Station Utilities reported at 11:52 a.m. birds caused an outage on a feeder along Texas near Deacon, which then caused a fault on another feeder. In all, 1,960 customers lost power.  Customers were brought back online as the repairs were made, and all power was restored by 12:40.

Among affected customers were the College Station Police and 9-1-1 departments. Assistant Police Chief Brandy Norris says there were no glitches converting to backup power then transitioning back from the backup to regular service.  Norris also says there were no problems on the streets, where officers were sent to direct motorists through traffic signals that went out along Harvey Road and Texas Avenue.
