Bryan School Board Sets Teacher Salaries

For the first time ever, the starting pay for teachers in the Bryan school district is $40,000 dollars a year.

The pay raise of $2,000 was approved at this week’s Bryan school board meeting.

Trustees President Maritza Hoffman says returning teachers will receive an average increase of two percent.

Hoffman says the board will act later this summer on health insurance coverage and close a gap of $1.3 million dollars on balancing next year’s Bryan ISD budget.

Maritza Hoffman visits with WTAW’s Bill Oliver.
