Consol Graduate Never Missed A Day Of School

One member of the A&M Consolidated High School graduating class of 2012 achieved a rare honor.

Alex Zietsman never missed a day of school, completing Kindergarten through 12th grade entirely in the College Station district.

Zietsman began at South Knoll Elementary, where he says he began thinking about perfect attendance after completing the fourth grade without an absence.

The perfect attendance continued through Oakwood Intermediate and A&M Consolidated Middle School before finishing at Consol High School.

Zietsman, who graduated Summa Cum Laude (the top 10 percent of  the class), was on the varsity golf team his freshman and sophomore years, a member of the student council, and was the lead bass guitar player in the school’s jazz band.

Zietsman will be attending the University of Texas at Austin where he will be majoring in Actuarial Science.

College Station ISD spokesman Chuck Glenewinkel says a career perfect attendance happens every 10 to 15 years. But no one remembers who and when the last time it happened.

WTAW’s Bill Oliver visits with Alex Zietsman.
