Charles Schwertner Wins State Senate Primary

The Republican Party primary winner for State Senate District 5 was Charles Schwertner.  The Georgetown surgeon defeated Huntsville businessman Ben Bius.

Schwertner’s overall margin of victory was the same in Brazos County, where he received 9,015 votes to 3,152 for Bius.

Schwertner faces Libertarian candidate Jeffrey Fox of Taylor in the November general election.

The winner replaces Steve Ogden of Bryan, who is retiring.

According to the Texas Secretary of State’s website:

Charles Schwertner 43,643 74.71%

Ben Bius 14,767 25.28%
