CS Council Supports Another Public Hearing For Proposed Private Landfill

A local businessman’s attempt to open a private landfill west of Easterwood Airport will include another hurdle.

The College Station City Council approved a resolution Thursday night calling on the state to hold a public hearing.

Mayor Nancy Berry, who is concerned about an 11-story tall landfill “within a stone’s throw of the biocorridor”, says State Representative John Raney will draft the letter that will be sent to the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality.

Comments from Nancy Berry.

Charles Mancuso of Brazos Valley Recycling says he’s already spent nine months following the application process and only one out of 23 neighboring property owners is opposed.

The proposed landfill falls inside College Station’s extra-territorial jurisdiction area.
