Bryan Police Reserve Officer Retires After 35 Years

On April 26, 1977, Don Foltermann was sworn in as a Bryan Police Reserve Officer.  After three decades of dedicated service with the City of Bryan, Don is retiring from the Bryan Police Department.  As a Reserve Officer, he was very active in the community serving our citizens. 

He was recognized by the Department as the Reserve Officer of the Year in 1991, 2005, and 2009.  He was awarded an Exceptional Duty Citation in 1999 for helping to raise money for the Special Olympics by waiting tables at Red Lobster.  In 2009 he was awarded a Community Service Citation after being selected as one of the officers to provide security for President Obama’s Inaugeration ceremony and parade in Washington, D.C. 

Don’s outstanding leadership amongst the reserves led to his promotion to Lieutenant in April of 1993.  Since, then he has continued to assist the Department at several community functions.  Lt. Foltermann could always be seen at such events as the Christmas Parade, Fiesta Patrias Parade, and Texas Reds.

A Reserve Officer is not paid for the work they do, but instead they volunteer hours of their time each month to the Department.  Over the years Don has worked full-time at a local business in Bryan while still fulfilling his reserve duties with the city.
