Early Voting Numbers: Republicans Up, Democrats Down

In 2008, the last presidential election year, 2246 local Republicans had voted at this time and 2700 Democrats had gone to the polls.

This year, almost 2900 Republicans have cast their vote, while only 293 Democrats have.

Kristy Roe, Voter Registrar, said Republicans have more contested races on their ballot compared to Democrats.

She also said it is a busy time of year for people and voting early could be the last thing on their minds. She also thinks election day following a holiday could be a problem.

Election day is Tuesday, May 29th.
