Organizers of Plaza Implosion Have Spectator Safety Concerns

Those organizing Thursday’s implosion of The Plaza say there’s an overwhelming response to watch it in person.

Spokesman Hans Hammond says they are concerned about crowd control and public safety.

Hammond continues to ask those planning to witness it first-hand to do from the proper location, which is next to the Bonfire Memorial near the eastern end of the polo and rugby fields.

Traffic control is scheduled to start Thursday at 4:30 a.m. Texas will be closed north of University and University will be closed west of Texas. Hammond says motorists northbound on Texas can turn east on University and those  headed west on University can turn south on Texas until shortly before the implosion.

Hans Hammond visits with WTAW’s Bill Oliver.
