Bryan Council Rejects Proposed Smartmeter Changes

The Bryan City Council has shot down the idea of letting electric customers opt out of using recently installed smartmeters.

Mike Southerland was alone in supporting his proposal. He says the smartmeter request came from constituents and after learning at least one other utility company offers an option.

Chuck Konderla took offense to Southerland’s reference to the council being “compassionate dictators”.

The council also rejected a motion to refer Southerland’s proposal to the BTU board for further study.
