Brazos Valley Marine Killed in Afghanistan

A 22-year-old Brazos Valley Marine has died in combat in Afghanistan.

A Defense Department statement says Sgt. Wade D. Wilson died Friday in action in the Helmand province of southern Afghanistan. The Marine Corps provided no other details on the circumstances.

Wilson was assigned to 2nd Battalion, 5th Marine Regiment, 1st Marine Division, I Marine Expeditionary Force from Camp Pendleton, Calif.

According to a  Facebook page established to remember Wilson, the Centerville High School graduate lived in Leona.

Multiple media sources reported Wilson was on his second tour of duty.

As of Monday afternoon, funeral arrangements were pending.
