Water Park Coming to South College Station

It’s been almost a year ago that the College Station City Council approved a 22 million dollar residential and retail development on 108 acres bordered by Old Wellborn Road, South Holleman, and Cain Road.

Last June’s vote excluded water skiing features sought by developers. At the last council meeting a scaled down version was unaminously approved.

Developer Heath Phillips says the commercial amusement zoning that allows the water feature will be used for only that purpose.

Flooding and drainage concerns raised by neighboring property owners along Cain Road are being studied. City Engineer Alan Gibbs says he’s not certain those problems can be solved.

The Army Corps of Engineers is also requiring additional drainage space within the development that will reduce the number of homes.

I would like to see a free water park put in Bryan. We have so many poor residents with children that could use a water park and Pool after the City of Bryan closed down the major Pool we had years ago.
