Two high school varsity football teams, plus all the subvarsity games, meant a lot of wear and tear on the grass at Bryan ISD’s Merrill Green Stadium.
That shouldn’t be a problem now as a contractor begins installation of artificial turf on the playing field, as well as renovations to the track.
What could be a problem is if you like to use the track for exercise. That won’t be an option while construction is ongoing, and the stadium is closed as of Tuesday.
Bryan school district officials say the upgrades should be finished by the start of football season.
BISD was expected to publish a list of available track facilities open to the public on Wednesday.
