Media picks OU, Ags, OSU top three in Big 12

Oklahoma, Texas A&M, Oklahoma State…. that’s how the media see it will all end up in November according to the pre-season poll released by the conference office today.

It’s the first time the Big 12 race has been among all members rather than divided into North and South as this year the champion will be decided at the end of the regular season with no championship game.

Texas A&M was picked to finish second in the 2011 Big 12 Football Preseason Poll, which was voted on by media representatives who cover the Conference.

Second is the highest the Aggies have been picked to finish since being predicted to win the Big 12 in the 1999 preseason media poll. Oklahoma was picked to defend its 2010 title with 41 first-place votes and 428 points. A narrow gap of two points separated the next two positions as the Aggies finished in second with one first-place vote and 362 points. Oklahoma State was picked third, also garnering a first-place vote and registering 360 points. It will be an early showdown at Kyle Field when A&M and Oklahoma State meet in the conference opener for both teams on Sept 24th.

Missouri and Texas finished fourth and fifth in the media poll, followed by Baylor, Tech, K-State, Iowa State and Kansas.
