BBB Torch Awards Announced Thursday

Since 1997, members of the Bryan-College Station Better Business Bureau has recognized local companies committed to maintaining exceptionally high standards of ethical behavior.

There were 50 nominees and 20 finalists for this year’s local Torch Awards. The winners were announced Thursday at a luncheon attended by 285 businessowners and employees.

The small business winner was 1-Above Pest Control, the medium business winner was Acme Glass, and the large business winner was C.C. Creations.

The BBB says nominations were made by individuals or companies in the local and surrounding counties. The nominees were asked to submit additional material and references which were then submitted to an independent and anonomyous panel of judges to select the award winners.

The complete list of finalists were 1-Above Pest Control, Acme Glass Company, Inc., Aggieland Green, Ltd., Boardwalk Spa & Nail Salon, Brenda Keith State Farm Insurance, C. C. Creations, Ltd., D & D Moving and Storage, Inc., Fifth “C” Fine Jewelry, LLC, George’s Paint & Body, LLC, Gerard Construction, Holman’s Quality Plumbing, Laran Construction, Oldham Goodwin Group, LLC, Park Cleaners, Michael Reece, DDS, Schaefer Custom Homes, LLC, Smith’s A-1 Professional Cleaning, LLC, Texas Trading Post, Village Foods, and Watercrest at Bryan.

The city of Bryan has provided a summary of proposed changes to the current animal ordinance. Tonight is the chance to speak to city officials. Comments by e-mail are being accepted through tomorrow.Friendly reminder! Today you have an opportunity to provide much wanted feedback on proposed changes to the existing animal ordinance. Citizens are welcome and encouraged to join us October 18th at 5:30 PM in Council Chambers for the Bryan Animal Center Advisory Committee meeting to share their thoughts.

These proposed changes are being discussed in an effort to update the City’s animal ordinance to better reflect adherence to state law, support community needs, and promote best practices in addressing common concerns.
