Bryan ISD School Receives $50,000

Ben Milam Teacher Julia Norsworthy & Principal Tracy Spies share a hug.

You might recall last October a Bryan elementary school principal being surprised with a national award and a $25,000 dollar check.

Ben Milam principal Tracy Spies, some of her teachers, and others from Bryan started spring break attending a convention in Los Angeles.

It was the fourth time Spies had attended the TAP national conference related to staff development. It became the most memorable when TAP founder Lowell Milken gave the school $50,000 dollars.

After the fact, Spies says she should have been tipped off when she and others from Milam were asked to sit with one of the founders of the staff development program.

The discussion has barely started on how the money will be spent.
